Capernwray Quarry
Capernwray Quarry
General Description:
Also referred to as Overhead Quarry. Strictly speaking this site is outside the Lake District, but so close to hand with such vital diving amenities including a dive shop, that it would be a crime to ignore it.

Not much else to say here. It's green fields everywhere and a flooded quarry that has been developed, and developed and developed, into something a bit special by it's owners. I take my hat off to them. This site has come a long way since I first dived it. Family can watch you dive or at least watch your bubbles rise as you head off. I wonder if they have underwater TV on site yet??!! - that would be worth something for the spectators and divers alike to have fun with. That's what this site is all about - fun - and in a very safe environment too.

However, in Jan 2007, a seal was spotted near Caperwray, adding a little extra excitement, but also some concern as Caperwray is certainly well stocked quarry with well fed, big fish! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article

Other Interests
Capernwray village has a church to pray in, and a pub to drink in. tis' purely for the diver, tis' this place.
