INTRODUCTION & WELCOME

Fuchsias in all their many varied sizes and shapes give so much pleasure. The site is set up by way of encouragement for others as I will always be grateful to the few individuals who so patiently encouraged me in the tentative stages of growing and later showing fuchsias.
I am very keen on all aspects of gardening (or I should say, most aspects, for let's face it spreading manure e.g. is not really enjoyable!) I grow a  wide variety of plants in our large garden and greenhouses, with fuchsias the great hobby plant.  Well, they have got everything! Beautiful flowers in a great variety of shapes and colours and relatively easy to grow and propagate. So versatile too, large stately patio plants can be grown in just one season, while other varieties lend themselves to cascading baskets and others still make superb standards. Then there are the hardies, one of the longest flowering garden shrubs about, and the species which are becoming increasingly popular……

Over the years I have, as editor of the Scarborough & District Fuchsia Society's Newsletter, written many articles covering a good variety of aspects of fuchsia culture, which I thought might be useful information to be unleashed to a wider audience - Enjoy! And yes, please do remember that the most important thing about growing fuchsias is to enjoy it.  Don't take it all too seriously - have some fun with them as well.
