1) I am pleased to report that two readers have recently sent in our first examples of these basses! Steve Smith of Burnley, England has owns a Black 'n' Gold I.
Aria's archive information suggests this model was manufactured from 1984 to 1987, but the serial number of Steve's bass suggests it was made in 1983.
Steve thinks the gold cover for the circuit recess should be black. Has it been replaced? Flip (see below) seems to agree as his cover is black.

Steve adds, I used to have a Jaydee Mark King bass back in 1985. I think this bass plays as well if not better than the JD - and its just as bloody heavy!
2) Flip Landstra from Holland also owns a Black 'n' Gold I. Flip has his own website.

Flip also referred me to a Black 'n' Gold I which appeared on eBay in the USA. The bass sold for $600, but interestingly had a serial number suggesting a year of manufacture of 1982! Aria's numbering system does not appear to tie in with their own archive information.
If you own one of these rarely seen basses, please send in your details!
