Welcome to the Forest of Dean and Amateur Radio
Amateur Radio
My unique Amateur Radio Call-Sign is (G0SDD). I have been a licensed Amateur since December, 1990, progressing from the Novice license (2E0ABH) to the A License which included a Morse Code (CW) Test of 12 wpm.
I operate mainly with the morse code mode, but also fone (voice), packet(digital) and the Internet links:Echo Link and eQSL, including the latest addition: The CQ100 Tranceiver, which is the first Software Tranceiver designed for communication over the QSO Net System. (Check my Ham Radio page for a link to qsonet.com).
There are four main Voice over IP software systems and details are shown on the Ham radio Page, plus links to more detailed websites and there are 8 authorised operating bands in the Amateur Radio Spectrum
Forest of Dean
The Forest of Dean is unique in it's qualities, it is steeped in history and has a fairly recent past of coal mining, iron works, charcoal burning and a network of railways which ceased in the early 1960's serving the many industries. I have dedicated a page to the village of St Briavels, because (a) it is the place of my birth and (b) it has a great deal of interesting history attached to it, particularly in relation to the Forest of Dean.
Taekwondo
Below is the club Coat of Arms for the Living Well Tae Kwon Do Club at Gatwick
Check out the website now-via the Coat of Arms
Taekwondo has nothing remotely to do with Amateur Radio to the best of my knowledge, or the Forest of Dean, but it's a great sport and my nephew Derek (Del) has a lot to do with Taekwondo at the Gatwick Club.
Originally developed as a means of self-defence, Taekwondo has developed into a competitive sport while still retaining the traditional background that martial arts are known for.
Literally translated, Taekwondo means "the way of striking with hand and foot."Benefits of studying Taekwondo include improved physical condition, confidence, and discipline. After years of training, the entire body can be used to defend against attacks from any direction or height.
Techniques learned in Taekwondo are used in sport competition, demonstrations, and in life-threatening situations.
Notes
These pages may not read correctly in other browsers they are designed to be read in Internet Explorer 6 or 7
The Forest of Dean Amateur Radio Society no longer exists as a club due to the decline of membership in rural areas, however, we do keep in contact via HF or VHF radio and also through recently developed internet programs designed solely for Radio Amateurs.
I have written all these pages in Style Sheet and XHTML format, (CSS and XHTML)in the Text Editor-Notepad) they have been validated by the W3C Markup Validation Service. Their Logos are displayed below to show validation. This web-site is purely experimental with CSS, XHTML and some DHTML Javascript Animation. It is best viewed with Javascript enabled.
I have carried out an extensive cross-browser check and resolved a few problems in Firefox, but a few still remain difficult to overcome.
