Tournament 11th September 2005

The first round draw of Swiss Pairings sees Ste D and Ste H drawn together. The two have played out against each other on many occasions, but on this occasion Ste H's Silver Surfer™ based team wins out in what proves to be a preview of the tournament final.

As the Swiss pairings continue it becomes clear that Ste H has a formidable team built around the Silver Surfer™. He manages to complete the pairing matches with an unblemished record of wins thanks to the Power Cosmic and a good selection of support figures.

It is a very pleasant surprise for Crimson Duck's regular players to not only see a map that isnt hanging off the table, but actually has room around the edges for drinks, dice and KO'ed clix. For the first time in recorded history, games of clix are completed without the obligatory knocking of the map and impromptu flying clix. Concentration levels rise as the battle to reach the final hits fever pitch. All players are comforted by the knowledge they get a participation prize regardless of the results.

The battle heats up as the Swiss Rounds become a battle for who will join Ste H and his Silver Surfer™ team in the final. Ste D eventually takes the second spot having suffered just the single defeat at the hands of the all conquering Surfer. Having seen how the teams performed against each other in the Swiss Pairings, Labrokes are paying out on a Silver Surfer™ win before a die is rolled.

The players elliminated from the tournament after the Swiss Pairings slug it out in a four player showdown to win an extra LE. Elekra™ seems to be everywhere on the board, it was almost enough to give a clixer a complex! Just as well the next competition is DC.

Despite the valiant efforts of the Orange Rubber Ring attired X-Men contingent, Silver Surfer ensures Ste H lifts the first ever Winners Prize at Game STUFF. Given a choice of Limited Edition clix to mark this presigious event, he duly chooses the Fantastic Forces® Invisible Woman(Sue Storm) to complete his LE set. Congratulations to Stephen Hunt and a great deal of thanks to eveyone who turned up and made this a great first event! Look out for more tournament coverage very soon. Better still get yourself down to the venue and join it with us.
