9th : Unrestricted Open 200pt game on quarter size
maps. Judge Steve fight damn you Date in
attendance. My 3rd event as a judge and my second write up after I managed to slack off from writing the last one. Once again Id like first thank everyone for attending and give me an unexpected high turnout of ten players..! (all ten with a team name as well ... CD). The tournament also heralded the return of the ever popular 200pt quarter size maps games or as I am now calling them mass violence events. |
If I see this annoying feral clawed character roll another six on his regen I fear I shall snap his scrawny legs from his base ... regen that bub! |

| After the past few events
saw some (i.e. lots) of hiding and camping tactics, I was
beginning to fear the urge to fight was leaving our
venue
last night restored my faith as we saw not
only some really close games but also some quick
ones
the record I think went to James
Patterson Vs James cook in the 3rd round, I
shouted start and the next time I walked past the table
score were being totalled! Player and teams in attendance:
|
The lesser seen great-crested Wastell bird and my flabby self wearing a Captain America shirt as well as Mr Hunt looking like he is about to explode all in one photo - wasted on CAD and engineering! |

| So onto Round 1 A truly brutal round one is seen on all 5 maps, Liams Batman ally theme (giving Batman the night off), manages a convincing win over James Patterson and his Batman (oh thats where he went moonlighting on another team) and Robin combo. James Phoenix is drawn against Sean orange and green attack Harte, sadly the cries of HAIL KOBRA die out after few rounds as the Jason Burr LE proves he curses anyone he perplexes as each Kobra miss their attacks. After giving up on Burr, Sean manages to fight back against the Thunderbird, Shaman, Quicksilver combo, evening up the game to both players on the same score (thanks to some pog kills), unfortunately the power of Kobra is no match for quicksilver on a small map and James scored the win. Parrys Green Lantern, Wolverine & Speedy combo is drawn against Steve Hunt and his original 5 X-men, from the start of the game things are looking bad for Parry as both Speedy and GL are taken out, then its just up to Steve to take down fellow X-man Wolverine. Now I know the rules state that characters are KOd but what followed was not KOs, wolverine proceeded to SLAUGHTER his fellow x-men, thanks to his handy Flurry/Willpower click, even managing to finish Beast and Angel off in one action. There was nothing Steve could do and Parry gets the victory.. Be it a blood soaked one. Paul W and his borrowed Hive horde face off against Martin. The horde emerges triumphant, but I am now a little worried by the constant playing of the Russian national anthem from comerade Westell, and all his remarks of world domination (does anybody know anyone else with the Russian National Anthem for a ringtone?). New comer Alec returns for his second event to face local historic legend Captain James Cook, Alec puts up a brave fight with his Titanium Man/Quicksilver combo but falls to the might of the Avengers lead by Captain America. It is now noticed by players that the top two tables are on the nice spacious open tables, whilst the others are on the record breaking how many players can we get around 2 tables challenge zone. This tourney is not just about getting victory its about freedom to move. |
Everything Jason Burr touches turns to ... well something considerably less valuable than gold. Those of us who were less fortunate than the lucky winners had to squeeze int a shanty town of clix maps. Needless to say, this became Kobra's second home for the night. |

| Round 2 On the top table Liam, fresh from his victory in the first round, picks up a second victory as James Cook and his Avengers fall to the stealth monsters that are Katana, Ragman, Spoiler and Azrael. James Phoenix faces off against Paul and his communist hive horde, but the horde is outmatched by the speed of Quicksilver. Less time on the Vodka for these reds. Back to the bottom cramp table and James P faces Alec and proves that a man in a battle suit is no match for the dynamic duo. Parry drawn against Sean and its his turn to learn just how annoying that wolverine can be especially when it regens twice and gets 6s. Parry scores anther win (Bah humbug, Kobra will have his day again web paparazzi lie-monger Harte (or CD as he is more commonly known)). Finally Martin faces Steve Hunt and his outdated X-men, Martin scores his first clix win (and as he informs me his first win in any game :S), so well done Martin for not only beating someone, but beating a multiple times tournament winner like Steve. |
Forget the final ... this is the game they all wanted to see! Kobra vs Hive. After Kobra took out the Hive's Queen Bee in the second round, the Hive showed they were less than sweet about the loss of their honey and kicked some snakey butts and eased to vicory. Hivetastic! Kobra blames Jason Burr for the pityful display tonight. |

| Round 3 The final set of rounds see the inevitable happen battle of the twins part 48, Liam and Parry duke it out for a place in the final, a close, and very quick battle follows, and for the first time Liam emerges victorious over his brother. James faces Martin, who from the glory of his win is pushed up to the elite table, sadly his winning streak is cut short by the blur that is Quicksilver. Back to the heroclix shanty town and its James Cook Vs James Patterson, I would write more on this but I blinked and it was over. Alec is drawn against Steve and scores is first win of the day, three loses today for Steve, but he does prove that early set x-men are really better for nothing other than melting down into scrap plastic. Thanks to some slight alteration on the drawing, Seans Kobra Horde is drawn against Pauls Hive Horde. Sean manages to take out Queen Bee in round 2, but this is not a worry to the Vodka soaked reds as they stopped taking orders mid Round 1. Kobra are no match for the range/stealth and willpower of the Hive, and Paul picks up the win. Also three loses for Judge Duck today, does this herald a change of colours for the duck, and will the orange and green be swapped for yellow and black, only time will tell. Also note that due to being moved to the cramp table Paul could not flee from the camera in time, and I did manage to get a shot of him eventually. Mwhahahahahahahahaha! |
Not only is there considerably more elbow room on the top table, they feast on a diet of chips and more chips! |

| The Final:
James Phoenix Vs Liam Cooke Both players in their first final, so a new GamesWorld champion will be crowned today. A very close battle follows but stealth wins out over HSS as Quicksilver finally falls leaving Shaman to fight on his own. After a very bizarre tactic of fleeing his three characters from one wounded shaman, Liam eventually runs spoiler back in to finish the job, giving Liam his first tournament victory and rubbing Parrys nose in the Third Round win very nicely. It was a very hard call on Fellowship as everyone was a good sport and I can gladly say not a piece of cheese in sight. It was finally awarded to James Phoenix. Well done James on some good games, hope to see you in the final again soon. No winners pictures this week as Liam was still stealthed and I could not catch James due to his hypersonic speed (meaning you forgot or couldn't be bothered? ... CD). Thanks to everyone for playing and making it such a good fun event, and I hope to see you all at the next one. (Sean managed to avoid last place by a Renee Montoya, that should be a new Heroclix phrase CD). Steve D |
Come to Liam so that I may run away like a man! Two first time finallists ensured a new name would be written of the Tournament Champions page tonight. Liam's hidden Batman team proved too tough for JP this time, but now he has had a taste of a final I expect it won't be long before we see him here again. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| (Bah he has added the
final scores on to the table again making it look totally
disproportionate as the two at the top have had an extra
game. Stop doing that! You haven't put in a W/L colum
either adding fuel to the points are more important than
wins debate, Grrrrrrr!
CD) No, the table isn't upside down. Sporting Mr Hunt (who is colour blind and doen't cheat) was very sporting and took it easy tonight ... even Kobra managed to finish ahead of his awful X-Men team. I have coloured the table in honour of tonights most buzzing team.
|
Parry and the 'Incredible Regenerating Wolverine' first maul Master Hunt's out of date X-Men (X-pired?) before munching through a fair amount of snake belly as they destroy Kobra's hopes of wold domination! |
