"It should have been over in a FLASH ... unfortunately it wasn't, nor would it be"

28-01-06

There were four of us and we had decided upon a 600 point team each. Three of us had come prepared (with a Flash™ team, the Ultimates™ and some Excalibur™ respectively), the home team was late making a decision, but in the end Hydra™ decided to team up with AIM™ for the 600 points. A purple-ringed Baron Blood™ led the Hydra™ half of the force assisted by Madame Hydra™, whilst Arnim Zola™ also adorned in a purple ring lead Aim™.

As you can see the opposition was varied, on the right we had Flash™, Flash™, Flash™, Professor Zoom™ and Kid Flash™. Opposite us were the Ultimates™ with Captain America™, Clint "Laughing Stock" Barton, Giant Wuss, Black "Where's ya stealth gone now" Widow, Scarlet Hag and after a heavy frost The Ultimate Thaw. That left a load of soon to be dead clix that included Dazzler™, Captain "Tasty Blood" Britain™ and Phoenix™ but most importantly to the telling of this particular story, Moira McTaggart. You will notice that disturbingly the Hydra™/AIM™ force had a full ONE starting square unoccupied due to the poor planning of the team builder. I so should have filled them all, Mwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

As the Hydra™ squad made their way into the building, the team to their left seemed to sense so easy pickings and moved in towards them. A fatal mistake indeed. Flash™ Inc decided this was most unheroic and this transgression would be punishable by death. To make matters worse for them, the Ultimates™ also decided to join in making the ods quite overwhelming.

Highlight of the game number one was Clint Barton attempting to multi-target Dazzler™ and Moira McTaggart. Rolling a three he managed to miss both target, which is quite some feat and on this occassion would prove to be a fatal error.

The Flash™es continues to run around the board at a huge rate of knotts targetting first Dazzler™ who was missed gain and then the rest of the orange-ring buddies. In an attempt to salvage some pride (or was ity just an attempt to salvage some time on the map?) Phoenix and co split up leaving Captain Britain™, Juggernaut™ and Dazzler™ facing the Hydra™/Flash™ combo and sending the rest of the squad into battle agains the Ultimates™.

Here we see the Moira McTaggart (who today has more lives than the Black Cat™) making her way towards Clint Barton on a suicide/murder mission. Yes indeed tonight it was proven beyond reasonable doubt that Hawkeye™ is bar far the worst hero in the entire Marvel Universe when Moira got to him and pushed to attack. He had taken a few hits already and although Moira perished from her valiant efforts, she took the purple and blue archer with her. How heroic of Hawkeye™ to be slaughter by the pog he missed with his deadshot arrow-firing skills.

Meanwhile, outside the museum, several Hydra™ operatives and AIM™ agents are still cueing up to gain entry to the exhibition. They are expecting to see some wonderful exhibits having had to wait all this time in a lengthy cue to gain access to the displays.

So the Ultimates™ and half the New Excalibur™ team set about beating the snot out of each other whilst Flash™ and the evil tyrants of Hydra™ and AIM™ picked of anything left exposed. Baron Blood™ got brave and charged at the patriotic pudding Captain Britain™ and took a nice chunk out of his neck. He was however not amused when a Flash™ finished the good Captain of and then kicked the Baron's head in too. A very disappointing end to a promising career - I am sure he will be resurrected soon though. In fact, I would STAKE my reputation on it!

Once the rest of the rag tag survivors from Ultimates™ and Excalibur™ had been elliminated Flash™ and the nazi wannabes exchanged a few blows but it was obvious that a) Hydra™/AIM™ were outclassed (though not outnumbered, not by a long way having lost only Baron Blood™ and a single operative) and b) with zillions of medics on the board a battle to the end may take a long long time.

The masses were happy to have taken some heroes down and graciously surrendered their arms to Flash™ Inc, before they were taken out one or two at a time.

What did we learn? Well we didn't learn that we shouldn't play four player games because they always end up as three onto one - because we already knew that didn't we!
