WITNESS PROTECTION

| Scenario Background The press have labelled it The Trail of the Decade! Capital City kingpin of crime The Grand Master stands accused of the murder of his wife and her sister. The outcome hangs in the balance and is dependant on two key witnesses. One of the anonymous witnesses is a medic for the S.H.I.E.L.D. organisation and has been put in the protective custody of a team of Heroes for the journey to the trial. The second witness, also a medic, is an affiliate of the evil HYDRA organisation and herself a convicted criminal. The unnamed medic was expected to testify as part of a plea bargain to reduce her own sentence but earlier was broken out of her top secret prison location by a group of well known super-villains. It is likely that they were hired to mastermind the break-out by the Grand Master and no doubt they will also have plans to stop the other star witness from testifying. Will justice be done or will villainy rule the day? Only the actions of the two super-powered teams can answer that question! Scenario Rules This scenario is designed to be played with using standard two player tournament rules other than where stated or superseded here. The game is designed to be played on any standard sized Heroclix Map (24 x 24 squares). Each players must create two teams for this scenario driven event. The first must be a team consisting of 300 points of super-heroes. The second must be a team consisting of 300 points of super-villains. The exact definition of Heroes and Villains is left to the discretion of the Tournament Judge. For my event I have allowed players to use characters that have team abilities belonging to the hero teams and villainous team abilities for villains. Non affiliated characters may be used for either side. The player who rolls highest in these tournament games selects the team he/she will play from Heroes or Villains. The other player MUST use the opposite team to this for the duration of this match. The second player (who did not win the roll to go first) will on this occasion select the map. The first player will then select a starting side and the second player will start opposite. For each game in this tournament the players will each be given an extra character. The Heroes will be given one S.H.I.E.L.D. Medic (Exp) and the Villains will be given HYDRA Medic (Exp). These characters act in all ways as part of that players force for the duration of the game (unless Mind Controlled or similar) including the use of their Powers and Team Ability. It is the duty of the team to protect these characters at all costs because they are the key witnesses to the biggest trial of the decade. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Medic has vital information that will aid the prosecution in securing a conviction of the Grand Master of crime and is keen to testify the Villains aim to knock out the S.H.I.E.L.D. Medic so she will be unable to testify. Conversely the HYDRA Medic is planning to avoid testifying and adding weight to the prosecutions case now that she has been rescued from prison by the villainous gang. The Heroes intend to KO her to ensure that she gets to the court to testify. Each tournament round is played out in the standard way with three Swiss Rounds followed by a final. If at any point the S.H.I.E.L.D. Medic or HYDRA Medic are KOed then the opposing team are immediately awarded a Victory and Victory Points are calculated as per rules below. The Medics are a little embarrassed that all these super-powered characters are fighting on their behalf. They would feel much better if they could get involved in the action, although they realise that this is very dangerous. Victory Points Remaining Heroes or Villains: the point value of each team member that remains alive on the board until the end of the game (when time is called or when the S.H.I.E.L.D. Medic orHYDRA Medic are KOed) is added to each players victory point total. Victory Point KO Bonus [100-199 pts opponents KOed 25 pt bonus] [200-299 points opponents KOed 50 pt bonus] [opposition elliminated 100 pt bonus awarded] KOed Opposition each character defeated (KOed) is worth victory points equal to that characters point value. As usual Arch Enemies are counted as 2X victory points. Witness Inflicted KOs Double victory points are awarded for any KOs inflicted by either teams allocated witness character. Witness KO by Push and/or Critical Miss The player controlling the KOed witness is penalised 175 points. As per standard tournament rules, after three Swiss Rounds are completed the top two players will progress to the final. The deciding factors for allocating final places are as follows
