Autumn 2007 International Seed Swap

Welcome to another International Seed Exchange!

Everybody is welcome to join in, from all parts of the world (unless sending or receiving small quantities of seeds from overseas is not allowed where you live).

Instructions

  • E-mail me for my address. Please note: my e-mail has changed since last year's swap.
  • Send in your seeds - any number of packets from 1 to 50, but no more than 10 of any one type, please, to reach me by the end of October.
  • Please make sure each packet is labelled with the Latin name of the plant.
  • Send your seeds in a bubble envelope, which I'll use to send your new seeds back to you. You can use a thin box if you prefer (the ones used by Chiltern Seeds are ideal).
  • Also enclose a label with your name and address, and
  • Postage to send them back to you
    - 2 x UK 1st class Large Letter postage stamps, or a £1 coin, 2 Euros, or 2 x International Reply Coupons (or more if you send a lot of seeds!).
  • At the beginning of November, I'll send back to each participant the same number of packets as they sent in.

These swaps are intended for us to share our unusual seeds, not to exchange unwanted seeds of common plants, so please try and send in seeds of plants other participants may not yet be growing.

Notes

NO vegetable or annual seeds please. And preferably not seeds of common plants everybody probably already has.

Seeds of alpines, perennials, tropical plants, bulbs, wildflowers, climbers, trees and shrubs are all fine.

Even small quantities of unusual seeds are welcome.

You can send in this year's seeds, slightly older seeds (but not ancient seeds, please), your seeds, bought seeds or free seeds from magazines, etc.

If you have any preference about what you get back, let me know (e.g. alpines, perennials, tropical plants, bulbs, wildflowers, climbers, trees, shrubs), and I'll try and include some in your selection. Otherwise

The seeds sent back to each participant will be selected at random.

You can send in spare seeds of annuals, common plants or unwanted packets from magazines, etc. to add to the kitty to be shared out between the participants, we'd all be glad to accept them as extras!

For US Participants:

People in the US CAN participate this year, if they have an Import Permit for Small Lots of Seed. The Permit is free. Details are on the APHIS Website: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ppq/Q37/smalllotsseed.html. You will need to send a copy of the Permit and a label for the Inspection Station WITH YOUR SEEDS.

If you do not send the Permit and label with your seeds, I will not be able to send you any new seeds, or return your seeds to you.

Looking forward to receiving lots of interesting seeds in the next few weeks!

PS - Some of the seeds already in the kitty to share out this year are here
