6th January 2010

It's snowing outside and you have found yourself curled up next to a roaring fire with the Eclipse website, Steve and I have fixed the problem... the problem being us! ...however we are back and updating and online. So, happy new year to you all!

Here is what is coming up in the next few months.

Our next show is going to be a belter! A proper belter. It's a tribute to the songs and styling of the Blues Brothers. (if you don't know who the blues brothers are click here for a video clip or for another click here of some of what they did.)
The pre auditions are on Sunday 10th January 11am - 2pm, Sunday 17th January 11am - 2pm, with auditions on the 24th January (time's to be arranged). It's open to all who wish to come along and try out. All will be explain on the 10th. (The Show is on the 19th and 20th March by the way!)
rehearsals are at Arran way community centre and we would love to see you all there.
For those of you who took part in the Pantomime, congratulations... the Noda review is in...

Aladdin

Venue:  Corby Baptist Church

Directed by:  Gavin R. Mills

Musical Director - Paul Headland

This pantomime cast gave their audience everything they needed for a good, fun night out just before Christmas.  Performed in a church, the minimalistic scenery worked very well due to the fact that the cast were prepared for every eventuality, knowing that each night of the performance would be in a different venue.  Kevin Sheen headed the cast as Widow Twankey, using every nuance  possible to get the audience on his side. I loved his character with her lilting Welsh accent and naughty child expressions.   A very attractive principal boy (Donna Mills) with a good singing voice, partnered by a pretty Princess (Shona McKinnon) with a cheeky Wishee Washee (Gavin R. Mills) and nasty Abanazar (Joe O'Neil) gave an excellent line-up of principals.  Karen Sheen gave a strong performance as Slave of the Ring and a different interpretation of Genie of the Ring was well played by Connor Wilson.  The rest of the cast gave good support with their singing and reactions throughout the show.  Gavin R. Mills' script was slick and Paul Headlands' band was excellent, giving all the atmospherical links and underscores so often missed in amateur pantomimes.  Good costumes and make up all helped to make this a most enjoyable show.  Thank you for a lovely evening.
