GAYTON COMPANION DOG SHOW 2010
The sixth Gayton Companion Dog Show was held on Saturday 11th September on the Village Green.
The weather forecast did not bode well and the morning stared off wet, however
by 11.00am the sun broke through and we had good weather for the rest of the
day.
Judging took place in two rings, with Jane Keeves judging in Ring 1 (the junior handling and pedigree classes) and
Jenny Wynd judging the remaining classes in Ring 2.
Entries were
similar to 2009,
with 118 dogs, entering 340 classes between them.
Best In Show was Spruce, a Flat Coated Retriever from Rugby; Reserve Best In Show was
the previous year's Best In Show, Holly, a Bernese Mountain Dog from Northampton; and Best Puppy was won by
Minnie, a Pointer from
Grendon. Minnie's handler, Kyle, also won Best Junior Handler. Best Veteran was won by
Lena, a Cocker Spaniel from Higham Ferrers.
This year's winner of the John McCarthy Trophy for the Best Gayton Dog was the Moulton's Cocker Spaniel, Ruby. The Michael East Shield for the Best Gayton Junior Handler went to Megan, handling Barley, a Lurcher.
We raised £331, which was donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association (Registered
charity number 294354).
