Strangely Remote by Geoff Anderton
In the hope that the last article was of interest to some readers I now have some more varieties/oddities to offer. To the readers who's reaction was to think "who is this guy who has nothing better to do than look for such details, why doesn't he get a life" I can only apologize & say that with the demise of BT phonecards that on the phonecard front I don't have anything better to do, but having said that, I ( like our esteemed chairman ) also spend hours looking at the backs of BT cards looking for previously unrecorded control numbers and am therefore probably certifiable anyway.
If you are still reading this it is possible that you are also interested in the minutiae of our hobby, if you are, & are willing to help in the ongoing collation of chip card controls please contact Peter Harradine, or you can email me. Now back to the real purpose of this article.
On the £5 CALL HOME card (Fig 1) I have the reverses shown in Fig 2 & Fig 3. Similarly on the £5 FIRST NATIONAL card (Fig 4) I have the reverses as shown in Fig 5 & Fig 6, however I don't note similar differences on any of the other values of either the CALL HOME or FIRST NATIONAL cards in my possession.

The £5+£2 TRUST card (Fig 7) has reverses as Fig 8 & Fig 9, however on my copies the fronts are slightly different in colour, one is orange & the other is reddish orange, I only have the one value of this card but similar differences may be found on other values.
The next, DISCOUNT JEFF (Fig 10) is similar to the PICCADILLY card noted in the previous issue, in that not only are the reverses Fig 11 & Fig 12 different, Fig 12 has been further altered by having an adhesive attached showing changed telephone numbers, these numbers are different from both the ones on Fig 11 & the ones under the label. So again, the card (Fig 12) may exist without the label.
The BANGLADESH card (Fig 13) exists with reverses shown in Fig 14, Fig 15 & Fig 16, although the fronts appear to me to be identical. The next, a GO BANANAS card (Fig 17), is a strange one since I have a copy of the £10 version which has the Destia Telco Saver logo on the reverse (Fig 18), when I would have expected to see the usual GO BANANAS logo !!

That's all for this issue but the good news is that I still have a few more remote cards AND some oddities on mobile top-up cards to list, that is if I can keep evading the men in white coats. The bad news is that I may spend this year's cold weather payment on a nice winter holiday, & if I find a pleasant glamorous granny to keep me warm I will burn all my remote memory cards and not bother you again, (I will keep my BT cards for old times sake). I know this is not a complete listing but please don't send me any more pictures, some days it takes forever to download my emails !!
