First model RLB -Reichsluftschutzbund-Leaders dagger by Alexander Coppel
Solingen -ALCOSO in near mint condition. Many first models were
modified into second models which partially accounts for
the rarity of this piece. |
The appealing "Art Deco" crossguard emphasises the bold floating swastika
grasped in the stylised eagles talons. Both the quillion end and the
scabbard throat bear the "waffenampt" inspection stamp of a stick bird with
the number 95. |

The insignia of the RLB on the 1935 model dagger consisted of the initials
of the organisation together with a small swastika surmounting a silvered
sunburst. Enamelling on this example is almost perfect. |
The device used to suspend the dagger from the belt was of similar
construction to that used for the first and second model enlisted mans
version of this weapon, i.e. a leather strap joined by a metal connector, in
this case bearing the initials 'v T'-perhaps of the first owner. |

Reverse showing the early ACS with scales makermark. Note also
the black leather blade washer and the early nickel silver clip.

Close up of the suspension clip clearly showing the manufacturers logo-F W
Assman. Burnishing is still clearly visible in the recesses of the straight
crossguard. |
