Chain links are intricately detailed and clearly display the 'D' shaped
holes which typify period production. Note also the 'swing wear to the holes
indicating that despite its superb condition this piece was worn. |
Reverse of the blade bears the RZM marking M7/66, indicating manufacture by
Carl Eickhorn, and a manufacturing date of 1941. Despite its relatively late
date, the Eickhorn firm clearly continued to produce items of exceptional
quality. |

Chain upper spring clip. Note detailing to leaf veins and
positioning of acorn-an excellent guide to authenticity. |
SA motto deeply etched into obverse blade surface. Scabbard retains 99%
of original black enamel. Size of scabbard ring fittings indicates that this
chain/dagger combination was a factory production and not a "field upgrade" |
