webmaster for this page Gerry Jones,

Dates for your Diary.
We started 2008 on Wednesday 11th January.

English Folk or Country Dancing covers a wide variety of dance types, from what some might call Barn Dancing or Ceilidhs, to more formal dances from dancing masters of the 18th century or earlier. There is also an American influence, as English Country Dancing was taken across by early settlers, became popular in New England and Canada, and there developed in its own way, and some were brought back to England.
Line Dancing is not included as this is something completely different.

We dance mostly to recorded music but occasionally there is a live band.
We welcome all to join us whether you are experienced dancers or complete beginners. All dances are ‘walked through’ to ensure people are familiar with the moves, and then they are ‘called’ during the dance. The objective is to enjoy the music and dance and have some fun in a social gathering.

There is no joining fee nor annual subscription but just a small charge of 70p each evening you attend, and this includes light refreshments, and the UNISON CLUB has a bar.

This folk dance club organises Saturday night dances once or twice a year, with a live band and caller, usually in Rainford Village Hall.

our Secretary would be happy to provide more details.
