Staff

Tony and Ian are supported by a staff of six qualified Dental Nurses. Two of our Dental Nurses hold a qualification in Dental Radiography. Kelly, our Hygienist, works with us three days a week. Sara and Nesika, our Therapists, are qualified to perform many of the treatments a dentist can offer, such as fillings and impressions.

Treatment offered

We offer all our patients a full range of NHS dentistry.  You may also choose to have some treatment privately as an alternative to NHS treatment, particularly tooth coloured (white) fillings and crowns that are not always available on the NHS. We provide a referral service for treatment that we don’t provide, such as implants and orthodontics.

If you wish be seen at the practice

Please telephone the surgery for an appointment if you would like to be seen by one of our dentists. Where possible we will arrange an appointment with the dentist of your choice.

If you require emergency advice

If you have a dental emergency, telephone us early in the day for advice. Out of normal working hours, a recorded message will give you the telephone number of the Sunderland Out of Hours Dental Service (0788 4384091), a service commissioned by Sunderland TPCT and operated by DenCall. Advice is also available from NHS Direct (0845 46 47 or www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk).

If you wish to cancel an appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment, please give as much notice as possible so that we can offer the time to someone waiting for treatment. We may not be able to offer NHS treatment to patients who continue to miss appointments or give less than 24 hours notice when cancelling appointments.

Interpreter Service

If needed, we are able to arrange for an interpreter to be present during consultations.

Complaints

We operate a complaints procedure following NHS guidelines. If you would like to make a complaint, please notify Mr. I. A. Broughton or Mr. A. P. Broughton.

Information

Personal information held as part of clinical records is only accessible to practice staff and only passed to other organisations with the consent of the individual patient.  However, from time to time we may need to release records to Sunderland TPCT or NHS Business Services Authority as part of our ongoing clinical review process.

Access

Our premises have a ground floor reception and a ground floor surgery is available, although there are two small steps at the entrance to the building. Portable ramps are available for these steps if required. Our toilet facilities are accessed down a short flight of seven stairs.
