Welcome to Gilli Austin's colourful world of Visual Arts, Crafts & Design.
Gilli initially specialised in acrylic and pastel fine art painting, capturing gardens, flowers, still life and landscapes with an almost photographic like accuracy. She later moved onto experimenting with new technologies to create vibrant abstracts and pop art images. Drawing her influences from graphic design, illustration, collage, mixed media, pop art and kitsch. She has a great eye for colour and looks up to such artists as David Hockney, James Rosenquist and Mirium Wosk. Some of her most popular designs have been used for her own exclusive greeting card range. Her artworks attract attention from collectors all over the world from the corporate world to the enthusiastic private collector.
Her Beach series has proved particularly popular in recent years and has reached healthy prices at Art Auctions within the UK.
Some of her limited edition craft projects have included costume jewellery and christmas decorations created from papier mache, fimo and found objects.
Over her extensive career she has been an active member of The Design & Artists Copyright Society, Axis, AN AIR and The Society for All Artists. Making appearances on television, in local and national press to promote her work and to campaign for artists resale rights. Her work can also be seen on the Saatchi Gallery website and the b gallery art directory. Gilli is no longer a member of the Axis website.
For the last six and a half years she has been teaching acrylic painting at various locations across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

WORKSHOPS - A new venue and dates for acrylic workshops yet to be announced. If you are interested in attending future classes in 2012 please email me with your name and postal address so you can be placed onto my workshops mailing list. You will get first hand information on future classes in and around Hitchin, Hertfordshire. All names and addresses will be kept confidential and will not be passed onto another party. WE NEED ENOUGH PEOPLE INTERESTED SO WE CAN BOOK UP A NEW VENUE - I have two possible venues located in Hitchin with ample FREE parking. One of the venues has some disabled access.
