Glandore Gallery

The Glandore Gallery Website
Glandore Gallery is a natural progression from the Nan Heath Studio which occupied Studio 4 in the Duchy of Cornwall's Porthloo Barn Studio building right next door to Glandore itself from 1989 to 2001. The photo on the left is of Nan and her husband, Frank Smith, on the staircase of the Barn Studios with Studio 4 in the background, around 1990.
After Nan's sad and untimely death in July 1995, Frank decided to keep the Studio going. Nan's luminous and delicate watercolours of Scilly were very distinctive - she painted nearly 900 watercolours in the twenty five years she lived on Scilly. Glandore Gallery continues to sell Nan Heath printed artwork, prints, blank cards and postcards.
In 2000, the decision was taken to close Glandore Guest House, move the Nan Heath Studio into the main house, and convert the two top floors to the new luxury Apartments. The Nan Heath Studio became the new Glandore Gallery, opening at Easter 2002, and Nan's nephew, Stephen, himself a talented watercolour artist, became the new Artist-in-Residence. His watercolours have proved popular and many have already found new homes.

The photo is Stephen finishing off a watercolour painting at the studio easel in the Gallery although, like Nan, he much prefers to do most of his painting outdoors on the spot.
