Agapanthus grow and seed freely on the Isles of Scilly, remaining evergreen all year round, their lush glossy green leaves providing jungle even in the depths of winter. Such are the delights of living on a 'sub-tropical' island! This was a particularly fine and large bloom which took many hours of careful study and work. Normally I work out-of-doors but this was painted in the Gallery and was widely admired by all who saw me working on it.
