Watercolour with pastel.
Original painting
27 inches tall x 9 3/4 inches wide.
I painted this with “Low Tide Shells and Pebbles” in the Spring 2007. When the tide came in too far for the “Low Tide” I moved onto Newfort Island and painted this just above the old quay looking back towards the shore of St Marys. (When the tide came in even further I moved onto another painting “Trefoil on Porthloo Bank”). This was obviously done on successive days. On average paintings take me 20 hours to complete so I have to return when conditions are similar.
I was particularly attracted by the colours in the rocks and seaweed and used pastel to help achieve texture.
