This was painted Spring 2006 early in the morning on what was to become a hot day. The beach was deserted except for the ubiquitous blackbird after my breakfast.
The red Gladioli growing by the seat are called locally "Whistling Jacks" They were a flower crop until they fell our of favour. You still see them coming up in old fields or hedgerows etc.
