In May 1998 a group of friends with a common interest in birds if prey met together. From this first meeting the new concept of Glantawe Hawking Club was grown. As a social club the early days were spent learning and researching this sport of kings. Sharing skills and knowledge, combining requirements to increase our buying power. Translating official papers from D.E.F.R.A. so we could all understand the rules imposed by government. From these humble beginnings we were determined that this club would be non-political and as friendly as possible. As the club grew so did our needs and purchasing power supplying feeds to club members at discounted rates was one of the first achievements. The education of the public particularly children has been close to the hearts of the club members since the beginning and to this end they have attended and supported many charitable events, fund raisers and schools sharing their knowledge and introducing many to their first one on one contact with a bird of prey.
Now ten years later we have developed a easy going friendly club which has by member investment and kind donation built to a standard of which I feel the members should be proud.
A recognised club with D.E.F.R.A. Owning several telemetry sets to help in the recovery of lost birds. Homing and rehabilitating injured and sick wild rescued birds. Putting on many displays during the year. These are not just static displays of birds with labels, but the members and their birds interact with the public giving them the unique opportunity to get up close and personal.

A Recognised Club with DEFRA. Some members actively assist in the homing and rehabilitation of sick or injured rescued birds of prey. Rescued wild birds are NOT used in any display. Those who cannot, on the advice of a vet, be released back into the wild are placed in knowledgeable homes where they can live out their lives with the best standard of care.
