Army of Guests

Following our hugely popular event on Sunday May 25th 2008, where we were joined at Army of Guests 2008 by Sylvester McCoy, Peter Purves, Louise Jameson, Sarah Sutton, Terry Molloy, Colin Spaull and Anna Hope, we are pleased to announce Army of Guests 2009!

The event will take place on Sunday, 24 May 2009 at a venue to be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.

We’re pleased to say that we already have our first two guests on board for the event, both strongly linked to our planned celebration of 25 years of Colin Baker and the 6th Doctor!

But we don’t want to tell you who they are just yet!

We will be announcing our initial guest list and launching ticket sales for the event at this year’s Collectormania, taking place at the Braehead Arena in August (full details available on our brand new Upcoming Events page, where we aim to give you all the news worth knowing about what’s coming up in Glasgow for the discerning Who fan!)

NB - Standard Ticket availability will be limited to just 125 - and there were 150 people in attendance this year - so be sure YOU aren’t one of the unlucky ones who miss out!

Join us at our live meetings and on our Yahoo Group to be amongst the first to hear all our announcements!

Important Note re Meetings Schedule

(News Updated 29 June 2008)

With immediate effect, we are changing our regular meetings schedule.

Our regular meetings will now take place once a month, on the first Sunday of every month at the Crystal Palace on Jamaica Street.

If you’d like to come along but find weekends in Glasgow city centre aren’t good for you, why not suggest an extra meeting? Maybe in Shawlands on a Thursday? Or Friday in Clydebank? How about a wet Wednesday in Wemyss Bay?!

Please feel free to suggest a time and date for any additional meetings via our Yahoo group.

Noel Clarke Comes to Glasgow

(News Added 18 March 2008)

Can’t wait for all these lovely Doctor Who guests visiting Glasgow in May? (See below.)

We don’t blame you!

If you’re so excited by Army of Guests that you think you might just explode with all the waiting, don’t worry! Help is on hand!

While we’re waiting, those lovely people at Forbidden Planet on Buchanan Street have arranged a signing session with the fabulous Noel Clarke (Mickey Smith in Doctor Who and writer of Torchwood episode Combat, as if you didn’t know!)

So get yourself down to Forbidden Planet between 11 and 1 on Saturday, 29th March 2008 and meet Mickey!

A Word of Welcome!

Welcome to Glasgow Who, the online home of the Glasgow Doctor Who Society, one of Scotland’s largest sci-fi and telefantasy fan groups.

It is our aim to be the meeting place for Doctor Who fans in Glasgow, Paisley, Cumbernauld, East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Clydebank, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire... Anywhere from where it’s easy to reach Glasgow!

We meet both online and through regular “live” meetings, to be held at the Crystal Palace, 36 Jamaica Street, Glasgow on the first Sunday of every month from 7PM onward. From time to time, there may be additional meetings through the month. Please join our Yahoo group to keep up to date with these extra meetings and to suggest a time and place yourself.

Our conversation covers a wide range of topics at every meeting, from Doctor Who to The Sarah Jane Adventures to K9 and Torchwood! We also chat about our upcoming conventions and events along with a huge array of totally unrelated subjects!

Please take a little time to join our Yahoo group, using the “Yahoo!” button at the top of the page, as this helps us to gauge interest so we can plan future meetings and events. You can also suggest your own preferred time and place for one of our meetings! It only takes a few minutes and you can be assured you won’t miss any group news.

If you have anything you would like to be considered for inclusion on this site, or if you have any questions about our group, please feel free to use the “e-mail us” button.

While we aim to have a vibrant and lively online presence, the core of the group will always be our “live” meetings. Please join our Yahoo! Group to find out more and come along to a meeting - we are sure you won’t be disappointed!

We hope you enjoy our site and we hope to see you at one of our pub meetings.
