Patience is a virtue.
Sale must have that posted on their dressing room wall because they were the epitome of that grace at Edgeley Park on Saturday.
They hardly saw the ball but they used what scraps they received to far greater effect than Gloucester.
To be fair that was probably Gloucester's best performance of the season but all too often they rushed to score tries. Rather than regroup, recycle and start another phase they attempted the quick kill, the grubber kick in their route for the line.
Yes it's a good tactic but there is a very high risk that you lose possession.
That was a game that should not have been lost, but that's rugby for you.

Reflections from the fireside -
You couldn't help but think that this was a golden opportunity for an away win missed and the visitors only had themselves to blame..
Whilst the match was not surrendered, Gloucester did not play badly but were only able to add a solitary penalty to their half-time tally.
Sale gained more possession in the second half and replied with two tries as a result of prolonged pressure, whereas in the first period Gloucester had a decided edge up front both in possession and territory but could only manage one try.
Gloucester appeared reluctant to back themselves behind the scrum, where costly wrong options were chosen at key moments and ultimately paid the price.
