Grandma's Belly Dance Page
The Belly Dance thing all started in Summer 06, when I had been sucked into an afternoon play on BBC1.  The play was about a woman who took up Belly Dancing and I thought it looked like fun.  I mentioned to a friend that we should do it and we decided to keep it secret from our husbands until we could do a dance.

This was of course, easier said than done, sending mine to the garage or off with Jon was getting a bit wearing for everyone involved, but it was worth it.  We had so much fun.  We started with Tina Hobin's - Learn to Belly Dance, then we found Amustela, a real Belly Dancer and she had choreographed dances on YouTube that we could learn!

Anyway, the video below is the story of us learning our first dance.

Our Secret

We found loads of people wanted us to do classes, but we couldn't do it.  We were only beginners ourselves.  However, two years after starting to dance, we have been persuaded to do some fun nights.  You can see more below.

We have twice now performed and have been asked if we take bookings!

Belly Dance Fun Nights

We are just about to embark upon a series of Belly Dance fun nights in Wick and Thurso, to give people a chance to come along, have some exercise and fun at the same time.

We will keep this page updated as to how they go.  :)

We hope to do a qualification which will allow us to teach Belly Dance.  The response the the fun nights has been marvellous and there are so many people who want to learn to Belly Dance!  Sadly the qualification will not be over until September and this is only March, but we need to do it for our own peace of mind as well as for the insurance.
