Unless otherwise stated, the arrangements have been written by Gwyn Arch, a specialist in the field, and one of the most frequently published and performed choral arrangers in the country. He also has 35 years experience as a male voice choir musical director and choral adjudicator. With the exception of a few of the most-recent items, every piece in the catalogue has been tried and tested for both choir and audience approval, and has been sung in concerts by male voice choirs, much of it in many parts of the U.K. The music is increasingly performed abroad, particularly in Germany, where Grove Music is sub-published.
FOUR publishers are integrated in the catalogue. 1) GROVE MUSIC - 70 of the titles are published by GROVE. Any item with a catalogue number beginning 15.. is a Grove music publication. 2) ROBERTON PUBLICATIONS - Most of the music in the Popular category is covered by ROBERTON, (also known as Goodmusic Publishing), and they are always the 53... numbers. All items carrying these numbers must be purchased direct from Goodmusic or your usual music retailer. 3) BANKS MUSIC PUBLICATIONS have acted as an agent for Grove Music since 1995. If this company is your supplier please continue to use them. Otherwise order from either Grove or Banks. 4) TONOS - This German publisher has only three items in the lists (but one of them- The Rose- is one of our most popular). Tonos is represented by 30... numbers. Tonos items can be ordered only via GROVE. The music will be sent directly from Germany with the invoice payable to Grove Music (in sterling!).
Grove Music is comparatively low cost as it is available in the form of chorus parts, (i.e. separate staves for the four vocal lines but without keyboard accompaniment), and full scores. The music is set on the Sibelius music notation system, and is thus comparable to the products of the major publishers. It is printed on 90g/m˛ paper with the centrefold stapled. The chorus parts are printed in standard ‘choral leaflet’ size, and the full scores on A4. In order to keep costs as low as possible, the music is offered in standard packs, made up of 20 chorus parts together with 2 full scores, making the minimum purchase. Extra chorus parts are also available, together with additional full scores. (See price list.)
INSPECTION COPIES are available from Grove Music on request, free of charge. They are printed on red paper and reduced in size. You can e-mail, write or phone, preferably the latter. Banks Music Publications provides a similar service, but in this case normal sized copies are provided through their Inspection Copy Service – details available on request. Most of the Roberton Publications titles can be seen on the Goodmusic website. You can actually look through the scores and even hear them played by your computer. Go to www.goodmusicpublishing.co.uk.
Often a recording of an item not on the CD will be available on request (and free). Do not hesitate to ask.
