Apart from the obvious reasons to document a building, such as a development or decorating project, I have also provided illustrations for history books and websites. Buildings present a challenge all of their own, sometimes they are obscured by other buildings or their sheer scale limits your options. Sometimes its simply a matter of waiting for the surrounding trees to bare their leaves or find a vantage point and use a long lens and some buildings are a reaction to their context. Needless to say that a good photograph can dramatically increase the desirability of a building which is for sale or rent via brochure or internet.
