RULES and CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1. THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Is for Digitally produced sequences only using a single screen, and with a sound track.

The overall winning sequence will be awarded 'National AV Champion'.

The Championships are open to all British AV sequence producers.

 

2. THE CLUB AND FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

All sequences by entrants who are members of clubs affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through one of the fifteen area Federations will be automatically entered into the Club and Federation Championships.

Each sequence will be assigned points as follows:

1stAward – 10 points 2nd Award – 8 points 3rd Award – 6 points

All other Awards –4 points All other entries – 1 point

The Club Championship will be decided on the average points from the best 5 entries from the club, a minimum of three authors per club is required to qualify, no more than 2 sequences per author to be considered.

The Federation Championship will be decided on the average points from the best 5 entries from different authors, and from a minimum of two different clubs.

 

3. SUBJECTS

The choice of subjects is open with no special categories for entries.

The Organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to any sequence which they consider, in their absolute discretion, to be undesirable or unsuitable for the Championships. The entrant will be notified of this and the entry fee returned.

 

4. DURATION

The duration of a sequence must not exceed 12 minutes.

 

5. AUTHORSHIP

The production must be the original work of the Author and his/her declared co-authors.

 

6. ELIGIBILITY

An entrants name may not be credited to more than two sequences, either as the author or a co-author. Sequences already accepted at a previous National A-V Championship will not be eligible.

 

7. COPYRIGHT & RESPONSIBILITY

In accordance with the established copyright regulations, sequences presented at the Championship should be free of all rights of ownership, artistic or otherwise, which others may hold.

By participating in the Championships authors of audio visual sequences indemnify the organisers against all and any other action, which may be taken against them by owners of copyrights. The organisers will accept no responsibility in the case of dispute or litigation.

All care will be taken in the handling of sequences, but the organisers cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft or damage.

 

8. JUDGING

The jury will consist of three persons well known in the British A-V field.

The Championship Jury is not permitted to enter the Championships.

The Championship Jury is not empowered to question decisions of the organisers. In all other respects the Championship Jury shall proceed as it sees fit and its decisions shall be final

 

9. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

A digital projector 1400 x 1050 resolution, computer (windows platform) and a sound system will be provided. The entrant must submit a CD or DVD containing an .EXE Programme, i.e. the sequence must run with no additional software requirements. The CD/DVD must contain only one sequence, and should be indelibly labeled. The sequence should be programmed without a 'run box', and to return to the desktop at the end. Please ensure that the cursor is not visible on the screen. All sequences will be copied to the Hard Drive for projection at the Championships. Copied material will be erased immediately following the Championships, and the CD/DVD may be collected at the close of the event, unless other arrangements have been agreed with the author. Sequences created at a lower resolution will be accepted, please ensure that they are set up to run at full screen.

 

10. PRE-SELECTION

Every effort will be made to show all the sequences entered in the 4 projection sessions allocated in the programme; however the organisers reserve the right to prioritize should this not be possible. Any entry unable to be included in the programme, the disc and fee will be returned.

 

11. ENTRY FORMS & FEES

Each sequence / programme submitted requires a separate entry form and an entry fee.

Sequences submitted without an entry form or fee will not be accepted, nor will they be returned.

 

The Entry Fee is £10.00 per entry.

Cheques should be made payable to the 'National AV Championships'.

 

12. CLOSING DATE

All sequences, entry forms and fees must reach the organiser by the 15th August 2009.

 

13. RETURN OF ENTRIES

Preferably all entries should be collected from the organisers at the end of the Championships. See note on entry form.

 

14. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Except where provided in these rules the decision of the organisers shall be final and binding.

Submission of an entry implies that the author has read and accepts the foregoing in all respects.
