The City of Bristol, UK.

The statue of explorer John Cabot (1450 to 1498) by Steve Joyce.
Poor old John Cabot waiting at Bristol Docks for someone to give him command of a ship.
Having travelled from Italy via Spain, King Henry VII and the Bristol merchants eventually provided a ship
that enabled him to land at Newfoundland and establish what is now Canada.
As we are already at Bristol docks....

........ this is the famous steamship SS Great Britain, back in it's original dock.
This historic vessel was built here in this very dock by the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, sailed the Seven Seas, eventually beached in the Falkland Islands and then used as a warehouse.
She was towed back, gutted, refurbished and is now on show to visitors.
