Once more the year approaches our big event. The village centre will close to traffic as usual at 10am till 8pm .There will be additional parking in the field at the top of Ffordd Coxwain Richard Evans and the field across from the village school. This is free parking but donations to the RNLI will be gratefully received. Disabled parking is available just outside the village.
We are thrilled to be able to say we have booked the Batala Samba Reggae 15 piece band again. This time they will be the opening event of our day. They are back by very popular demand as we all enjoyed them so much last year. Get ready for some serious hip shaking, toe tapping music !
Fantastic Fun House will be bringing their usual selection of children’s amusements. The Bucking Bronco, the Fun House, Mobile Play Centre, Trampolines, Slide, Bungee Trampolines. There may even be more if we can make space.
The Army will no longer be able to attend with the assault course due to Government cut backs and the high expense of bringing their equipment. We are disapointed not to have them but we thank them for coming last year.
In the big field accross from the boathouse will be a miniature Steam Train running the length of the field giving rides. The children will love this (also big enough for parents too !).
The Lifeboat Station will be open from 10am giving guided tours of the boat and boathouse until just before launch [see programmes for launch time]. Hopefully we will have the attendance of a SAR 22 Chopper, operations permitting. Come along and watch the antics with the boat and crew, and the interaction between boat and helicopter. When the serious work is done join in with the fun but be prepared to get wet if you do.
Call in at the Seawatch Centre and visit the shops, including the RNLI shop. This will be open 9am until 5pm on Lifeboat Day. Climb aboard the "Birds Eye" Lifeboat and take photographs.
There should be plenty of food outlets, Twm Pen Stryd will be open as usual for gifts and rest and respite and The Wheel & Anchor Fish & Chip Shop under new management. The Moelfre Stores will be open, Kinmel Arms, Caban Laura and Ann’s Pantry. Again, by popular demand, the Hog Roast Man, Milk Shake Trailer, Seafood, Crepes, Smoked Fish Trailer, Doughnuts, Sandwiches, and Burgers. The Chapel will be serving tea and coffee, soft drinks and cakes.
Helen’s Wool Shop will be open for trade with her lovely selection of wools and patterns. Also she sells 2nd hand books to raise funds for her chosen charites of Cancer Research, Air Ambulance and the RNLI. Stock up on your holiday reading.
The village will be filled with stalls of various kinds. The RNLI Games tent always proves to be a hit with the children. The Jewellery Stall has new stock, a children’s sweet stall and upside down dolls. Unique Kid's Clothing from Beaumaris will be bringing their stock and the big Carreglefn Nurseries Gardening Trailer, Wooden Plaques and many others.
There will be Face Painting, a fancy dress for the Moelfre Children and the choosing of our Lifeboat Day Mascot and Princess for the year 2010. Music will be provided as usual by Pigs Ear who come back every year and are very popular. This year we also have Steve Blackstone Band -
