These run all the year round at weekends, evenings and school holidays. We cater for a wide range of abilities from absolute beginners to more advanced work on the open sea, kayak surfing, white-water rivers and rolling courses. Beginners courses are run on the ideally sheltered waters of Poole Harbour whilst more advanced courses venture further afield depending on the conditions and the ability of the group. Assessment for British Canoe Union awards is part of every full course. We have 10 different types of kayaks and canoes in our fleet.
ALL OF OUR KAYAK COURSES ARE RUN BY CURRENT B.C.U.
INSTRUCTORS (LEVEL 2 COACH) OR ABOVE WHERE APPROPRIATE.
BEGINNERS KAYAK COURSES
This course starts with the very basics and then moves on at the speed of the group. You will learn the basics of kayaking including what to do when the boat capsizes.
IMPROVERS KAYAK COURSES.
For those with some previous experience. Suitable levels of entry are stated for each course. If, however, you have no formal certificates or are unsure of where your personal standard fits into the BCU scheme please contact the Centre and we will try to help.
KAYAK TRIPS.
We have some of the most spectacular coastline to explore right on our door step. Come and kayak to some parts of Dorset you can only experience from the sea.
The trips are weather dependent but you could find yourself paddling along stunning cliffs, through sea caves, surfing or simply paddling in parts of Poole Harbour only accessible by kayak.
SWIMMING POOL SESSIONS.
These may be used as an introduction to kayaking, as a means of learning to roll, to polish more advanced strokes or all three!
