Comet Observations

Comet "Lee"

Date: 4th October 1999

Time of observation: 21:40

Eyepiece: 9.5mm plossl

Notes: Faint diffuse patch of light. Roughly circular, brighter towards middle.

S4 Linear

Date: 21st July 2000

Time of observation: 00:15

Eyepiece: 25mm plossl

Notes: Very bright central region with a fainter coma, slightly asymmetric? Shortish, broad faint tail visible with averted vision.

A2 Linear

Date: 27th July 2001

Time of observation: 23:45

Eyepiece: 25mm plossl

Notes: Fainter than I expected at approx. 7mag. Very diffuse, slightly brighter towards the middle. No obvious tail visible but the coma appaeared slightly elongated.

WM1 Linear

Date: 4th November 2001

Time of observation: 19:35

Eyepiece: 9.5mm plossl

Notes: Quite faint, not easy. Very small and diffuse with little or no central condensation.

T7 Linear

Date: 28th December 2003

Time of observation: 20:15

Eyepiece: 9.5mm plossl

Notes: Fairly bright and easy. No obvious tail, but coma is distinctly, albeit slightly, elongated.
