M 27 : Planetary Nebula The "Dumbell Nebula". A huge area of nebulosity with a very distinctive shape, which appears slightly better without a filter as the OIII reveals so much nebulosity that it masks some of the detail. To me eyes the Southern lobe appears slightly brighter of the two. |

M 71 : Globular Cluster
At low powers looks like a small fuzzy glow in rich starfield. At powers of x100 and above it is resolved into a myriad of pinpoints of light embedded in an uneven blue glow. With my 6mm Lanthanum you really get the feeling of being 'right in there'!. Really needs a very dark and transparent night to appreciate this at its best.
6830 : Open Cluster
At low powers it appears a fairly uninspiring little cluster, but at higher powers it appears as a pretty 'X' shaped group of about 20 stars.
6823 : Open Cluster
A smallish, loose cluster. Not that interesting but better at higher powers. Does contain a nice multiple star. There is a nebula associated with this cluster but I've never seen it.
Stock 1 : Open Cluster
A very large and very loose group of fairly bright stars. Use the lowest power possible. A good binocular object. Lies in a very rich starfield.
