The Border Hike is a challenging competitive hike for members of the Scout and Explorer sections of the Movement. The 'incident hike' format is hugely popular with the Scouts and Guides as it adds a number of dimensions to a walk through some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. The Border Hike took place over the weekend from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd September 2007, with the actual competition taking place on the Saturday. 3rd Buxton Harpur Hill Scouts entered two teams into the Border Hike competition: Rhinos and Hippos There were 24 teams entered into the border hike competition. Each team were given a list of map references which they had to plot to give their route. They had to navigate around the 10 mile course carrying a full kit back. and perform tasks at 4 'incident points' around the course. The teams were given points for each element of the hike. Sunday morning the prize giving. Teams received pennants and certificates for completing the hike.
Prizes were given for the top three places, and ... 3rd Buxton Rhinos came second!! Much to the delight of the all the Scout leaders.
