The Monk's Dale and Chee Dale Hike was a 10km hike on Sunday 15th June. The weather looked bad first thing on Sunday morning, but it cleared up and we had a really good day for a hike.

The intrepid group steel themselves for the hike.

After two hours we reach Wormhill and pause briefly for lunch (those of us who have any left!).

The leaders regret not bringing a supply of rotten fruit and veg.

The Chee Dale stepping stones photo opportunity.

More stepping stones ... another photo opportunity.

Route

The hike was designed to prepare the scouts for the Border Hike, in September. Giving them a change to improve their map reading and navigation skills. They were given the following route objectives on the 1:25000 White Peak OS map:

Start:     138 733 Miller's Dale Station

140 734 Path-Road junction

141 734 Path Junction

131 753 Path-Road Junction

128 746 Path Junction

123 742 Road Junction

123 740 Road-Track Junction

117 733 Path Junction

114 727 Path Junction

138 733 Car Park

This is an anti-clockwise route. The clockwise alternative involves a steep climb up out of Chee Dale towards Wormhill. The highest point on the route is about 335m.
