Seven Scouts braved it for the expedition hike from Harpur Hill to Gradbach, camp overnight and hike back to Harpur Hill.

The Hike started with kit inspection at 9:45 on the morning of Saturday 13th February. We started the hike at about 11 and arrived at Gradbach at about 3:30. As you can see in the photographs it was cold, but dry and not too windy.

Its about 7.2 miles to Gradbach. We had our lunch at Three-Shires Head (after about 5 miles of hiking).

We put the tents up and got ready for cooking our tea and some well-deserved rest.

On Sunday morning there was a layer of frost over the ground - and the tents. We packed up and started our journey back at 10:30.

We had a brief stop for food (it was too cold to stop for a long time) and got back to Harpur Hill at 3:15. The scouts wanted to impress parents by running the last bit, but energy levels were too low, packs were too heavy and legs were too tired.

This was a challenging hike, especialiy for the younger Scouts. They all seemed to enjoy it (they were all smiling at the end).

Well done.
