WE WIN!The Border Hike is a challenging, competitive hike for members of the Scout, Explorer and Guiding sections of the movement from all over the British Isles. Teams are made up of four scouts with their ages totalling no more than 50, with a team leader aged at least 13. Points are awarded for navigation, general knowledge and incident activities around the hike. 3rd Buxton have previously won the trophy in 1995 and 2004. More recently we have taken second place twice: in 2007 and 2009. In last year's competition we won the Johanna Knowles Memorial Trophy for the highest placed local team. This year we entered two young teams into the competition and took another group on a training hike. The competition takes place on the Saturday, with the results and prizes awarded on the Sunday morning. We very pleased to find that our team had retained the Johanna Knowles Memorial Trophy, and then delighted when the announcement was made that we had also won the overall Border Hike. Well done to 3rd Buxton. |
