3rd Buxton Scout Group new meeting hall

3rd Buxton Scout Group are based in Harpur Hill and have an active membership of 75 boys and girls within the Beaver, Cubs and Scout Sections. Currently the group meet at the Methodist Church School Hall in Harpur but increasing numbers have pushed us well beyond capacity in the existing accommodation.

Our landlords the Methodist Church have been excellent with us and very accommodating but we have three thriving sections and the church hall has only one toilet. So in this Centenary year of Scouting the Group Executive Committee has agreed to see if a bigger venue can be sought. Harpur Hill is a growth area the hunt is on for a site for a Harpur Hill Scout Hall.

In March 2009 the Borough Council's Planning Committee gave their full support to the Scout Group relocating our donated prefabricated building to Buxton Rugby Club. We want to thank all parents and relative for all your help in getting this far help.

Things are now gathering pace. We have a lease for land at the rugby club, and funding to get the building sorted. So on November 6th the building was moved the short distance form the old college grounds to the Rugby Club.

And now the building started to take shape in its new home.

There is still lots of work to do, but the first hurdle is complete.

Web Changes

This is the web site for 3rd Buxton (Harpur Hill) Scouts. 

These Web pages were first posted on 10th April 2007 with photos from the Gradbach hike in February. Since then we have added programme information and you can now access letters and forms directly from the web site.

In September 2007, a new Information Section was created. This has allowed us space to put information on uniform, contact details, and in future we may include other information such as kit advice, policies on activities and joining information for new Scouts.

The Events page was also changed in January 2008, to divide events by year and to make the most recent event appear at the top of the page.

November 2008 - The Web pages have been re-structured. You won't notice any difference unless you had links to particular events pages, in which case the addresses have changed. I am sorry if it caused any inconvenience, but the changes make it much easier to keep track of  the page names for events.

May 2009 - The 3rd Buxton Scouts Logo has been improved. As well as an improved Solomon's Temple it has a better (and clearer) knot - it now looks like a reef knot rather than a granny knot!

June 2009 - started to use Picasa Web albums to allow more photos to be accessed on line.
