The HCA is looking for help. Could you spare a couple of hours a week? Do you have good planning skills, or a financial background? Do you have insurance expertise? Or do you have experience in working with grant making organisations?
Over the past year, HCA has made great strides forward: we have:
Obtained planning permission for a new Community Centre
got the Borough Council to prioritise expenditure for the new Centre, amounting to circa 50% of the estimated cost
held an Open Evening attended by 250+ residents
developed a comprehensive programme of community activities
signed up approx 100 households to our events bulletins
developed partnerships with EBC walks, Hiltingbury Schools PTA events, Chandlers Ford Library, UK Online at the Hexagon Centre
started to receive grants for specific projects
implemented a programme for mature residents
obtained exclusive use of The Basement centre on the Hiltingbury Rec for weekend community activities
committed to a programme of events specifically for young people
One of the major tasks we are now focusing on is obtaining funding for the balance of the cost of the new centre. This is a tough task, as there are a limited number of organisations with the sort of money and grant-criteria, which fit with our needs/situation. But, we are optimistic and determined to succeed!
We have a small group (of 4) dedicated to this task and we would like to increase our strengths in specific areas. Could you spare a couple of hours a week? We would especially welcome new faces with planning skills, a financial background, insurance expertise or experience in working with grant making organisations.
If you’d like to get involved or would like to know more about what is entailed, please contact Alan (Foster), Secretary, Hiltingbury Community Association on 80908862 or email HCAalan@NTLworld.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
