Map Mate is small utility or educational program for working with maps and scale drawings. The calculations that it does may be done easily by most experienced people either in their heads or by other means for non-standard scales but there are people who maybe aren't quite familiar with scaled drawings (I have met several).
Where the scale is known then Map Mate will show how distances on the map relate distances in the real world.
Where the scale of a drawing may not be evident then users can determine the scale by measuring a distance on the map compared with the known distance in the real world. Map Mate then calculates the scale.
Map Mate is also able to convert between different units of distance measurement, both metric and imperial.
You can download Map Mate by clicking with the right mouse button on the link below and selecting "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" and then selecting a location on your hard disk.

To run, unzip the contents to a new folder and double-click the mapmate.exe file.
Map Mate should run on most Windows computers with a Pentium processor.
