Erskine Novice Triathlon - May 2003

organised by Glasgow Tri Club

Well unlike last year this race was brill. It was really well marshalled and I didn’t get lost!

I think I had a bit of confusion in the swim when someone behind me got out before me. I’m not sure if he did two less or I did two extra lengths. That doesn’t really bother me though; it’s bound to happen to at least one person!

The bike went well this year! The marshalling was a lot better and I didn’t get lost. The course is a very fast, flat one so if you’re not good on hills (like me) then this course will suit you. The only thing I warn you about is the traffic, the roads aren’t shut and at some points on the roundabouts it gets a bit tricky but as long as you’re careful then it’s fine.

The run, again is quite flat and is a straight “out and back” which means there is nowhere to get lost!! I like this run but I would prefer a slightly hillier one.

Overall, a very successful race. Oh, the massage at the end really helped my legs recover. I wasn’t able to stay for the prize giving because I was rushing off to the west-district swimming championships at East Kilbride (got new PB's in both my swims!). Yes, I had a very busy day!
