An old established viola - larger (2" - 50mm) circular flowers in rich deep velvety purple with a darker bluish surround, darker veins and a yellow eye. Probably a lot of pansy blood (common in old varieties) - it has a large pansy leaf and strong stem. Faintly scented. Flowers quite early in the right spot.
