Introduced by Gertrude Jekyll and said to have been named after her pet monkey, whose delightful cheeky face she thought it resembled. The top two petals of the flower (40 x 35 mm) are of deep red, almost chocolate, and the other three are bright yellow with chocolate-magenta rays. Delightful, vigorous and exceptionally eye-catching, it always attracts comments from visitors. RHS AGM.
