viola 'Jeannie Bellew' In the spring this compact and prolific variety has cream flowers tinged on the edge with lavender. Later in the season it loses the lavender edging and becomes a creamy-yellow. Two plants for the price of one

According to the excellent catalogue produced by Bouts Cottage Nurseries, "Jeannie Jameson (the Irish whiskey family) was born in Ireland in 1890. She married Bryan Bellew, later Lord Bellew and went to live at Malcolm House near Moreton-in-Marsh , where she bred this viola. She returned to Ireland to live and garden at Barmeath Castle in Co. Louth until she died in 1973"
