National Viola and Pansy Society

Summer Newsletter 2001

This year's meeting was held once again in Bridgnorth, and I was delighted that so many members were able to attend, a number of whom had travelled some distance.

The business part of the meeting was conducted without controversy. Fred Owen remains our Chairman, Gerald Barber, treasurer, and the members of the committee remain unchanged.

There was a good plant sale with a range of the less common varieties both for garden and exhibition on offer, and the table was soon emptied. The new society cards were also on sale, as well as copies of the reprinted 'Pansy and How to Grow it'. Janette Warmer put on a fine spread of refreshments, and while these were being consumed there was a chance to view some of the slide collection of the late Ray Frost. This then grew into a lively question and answer session.

Upon reflection this meeting can be regarded as a complete success. On a personal note I have to say that this is something that I have been working towards ever since I took up the post of secretary, so I conclude with a big thank-you to all who made it possible, and hope that this will prove to be the first of many such meetings.
