It is with great personal sorrow that I have to report the death of Colin Andrews, who passed away after a battle with illness at Eastertide.
Colin was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable plantsman with whom I enjoyed a wonderful correspondence over a number of years. His love of violas was just a part of his great love of plants, he was particularly keen on propagation, and my own garden has a number of fine specimens that came from his frames either as seedlings or cuttings.
A great supporter of the society, he promoted our cause wherever he went as a speaker or judge, and was always ready to contribute to society journals. His greatest legacy, however, will be the viola Jennifer Andrews, which is grown and appreciated by an ever increasing number of members.
