BIOGRAPHY

Began flying helis in April 01 with a Raptor 30 fitted with basic servos, a basic gyro all controlled by a JR 388s.

I had to learn the hard way! Didn't have a computer so couldn't use a sim also I didn't belong to a club, I learnt by reading books and having a go with the heli.

I had to teach myself all about pitch and throttle curves setting the engine up, before I could even think about flying it.

I learnt to hover by the fourth tank and then tried to fly it as a plank! Bad move that's when I started to crash it! Figured out I was getting disorientated by the small size of the model so I traded it in for a Raptor 60 digital servos, CSM 540 gyro.

This happened in June 01, Bad move again! Bigger heli multiplied by more money in the air totally set me back, had to put the training undercarriage back on add to this I couldn't tune the engine right or get the pitch curves right,

I then gave up the quest of heli's and because of losing my field joined my local model club with the intentions of continuing to fly planks.

As there was already heli flyers at the club with years of experience I straightway became interested little did I know that these heli flyers even though they had been flying for years knew nothing about the hobby?

I then came aware of Andy B getting an interest in heli's knowing that I could just about set the basic heli up I took an interest In what he was doing knowing that we could help each other,

I showed him how to hover and the basics of circuits he helped me when I became disorientated, this helped me to gain the skills and confidence I needed to start doing loops, rolls and stall turns.

I then decided I needed a cheaper heli to practice new tricks with so in October 01 I purchased a Raptor 30 along with a 50 upgrade kit add to this a CSM 540 gyro.

June 02 I managed my first inverted grass cutting session.

October 02 managed to destroy the Raptor 60 due to a washout link breaking in flight, this along with the engine going to full throttle when it hit the ground left me with a bill including upgrades of over £600.

As of today I have a raptor 50 and a raptor 90 the latter fitted with OS91 c-spec and muscle pipe2.
