The Home of Hester Racing
Purchased in November 2002 and currently
undergoing restoration is my 1958 MGA Twin Cam Chassis Number YD3/801 (The
300th TC made and one of only 1293 YD3 cars) Body Number 68529 Engine Number
unknown, last known registration EEY 445. Unfortunately purchased with a 1500
pushrod motor.
October 2003 was a good month, the Twin Cam passed it MOT and I acquired a
complete late model Twin Cam engine from Queensland (Yet to be fitted).
After competing successfully at Silverstone in April 2004, February 2005 saw
another successful day’s competition at Brands Hatch, that was until the journey
home when the cranks shaft broke. Now sporting an 18v engine.
The new engine performed well on the way to Le Mans in June 2005, even with the
extreme heat of 37 Degrees it managed to average 90MPH most of the way, whilst TVR's & Porsches cruised by.
Another trip to Silverstone in July 2005 is shown below, unfortunately a rather
wet Sunday and there were no side screens to be had by the vendors.
August 2005 saw an MG's On-Track (MX5) day at Goodwood, great fun except for
getting told off for going too fast.
September 2006 sees the Twin Cam return to Perth by ship. Leaving it's
owner behind to save up more for the restoration project, but one step closer
to it's Twin Cam engine.
April 2007 Saw it's first race in Northam, Australia , well until owner got busted for supposed overtaking in qualifying/warm-up.
