Forward to July

Finally the tomatoes were strong enough to be planted outside—in pots not growbags.  The cucumbers stayed in the greenhouse, planted up into bigger pots.  Cucumber “Zeina” started producing very tasty fruit.

Lots of healthy growth in the roots, brassicas and three sisters beds.

19th June: a proud moment as the first cauliflower “All Year Round” was cut and produced an excellent meal of cauliflower au gratin with bangers and mash.  Home-grown produce really does taste so much better than shop-bought produce.

We will be eating cauliflowers fairly intensively over the next couple of weeks.  Cath’s tip of the month: don’t grow too many seeds of anything at any one time; do several small successional sowings.
