Home Front Badges
Perhaps the most commonly encountered souvenier of the civilian war effort was the lapel or pin badge. Often in the absence of a uniform this was the only means of identification, particularly in the early days of the war, of members of an organisation.
As uniforms developed, cloth badges were also issued. However, the lapel or pin badge was still worn as a means of identification when out of uniform.
All lapel badges, cloth badges and arm bands illustrated are from my personal collection. There are many, many more in existence which are not illustrated here.
